We use various engagement and participation techniques and methods to capture the views and experiences of local people and communities.

East Sussex Community Voice delivers a variety of community outreach and engagement initiatives across the county.

As community engagement specialists, we use a variety of methods to capture people’s experiences and to champion change. Insight gained is used to create recommendations that strive for people-centred services across East Sussex.

We are committed to meeting people where they are and using a variety of methods to gather the experiences of the public on key themes, including health, wellbeing, housing, education and youth issues.

Our work involves  supporting all voices in the community to be heard. Throughout all of our projects and programmes we make use of tailored approaches to capture as many people’s views and experiences as possible.

The methods we use include: community surveys, focus groups, 1-2-1 interviews, organising and running public events and attending community activities. Everything we hear is captured and used to shape projects, gather insight, develop recommendations and make public services better for everyone.

Through our delivery of the Healthwatch contract locally, every year we run a Listening Tour

Our Listening Tours take place in a specific section of East Sussex to engage with local people and understand the needs of communities and places in more detail.

During the tours we use various participation strategies to capture the feedback and experiences of  local  people including:

  • Organising specific events, such as community launches and stakeholder networking opportunities
  • Digital and physical surveys
  • Discussion groups and one-to-one conversations
  • Pop up stand in various locations
  • Visiting local services and community groups

With the feedback we receive throughout the Listening Tour we pull together reports, share the findings and make recommendations to  local health and care commissioners and providers to support positive change.
